Calendula
Calendula officinalis
Ruled by the sun, calendula is a cheerful yellow/orange flower that has been used for centuries to soothe minor wounds, bruises, burns, and stings. It discourages scarring as the skin works to mend, creating new, healthy tissue.
Plantain
Plantago major
Consider this a great skin ally. It helps soothe dry, irritated skin and eases minor burns and insect bites. The fresh plantain leaf can be crushed and chewed to be used topically on wounds.
Yarrow
Achillea millefolium
This widely-grown plant is the master of blood. It coagulates blood to stop bleeding quickly, contains flavonoids to ease redness, and contains moisturizing properties that makes it our go-to choice for soothing skin. Stories say yarrow got its name from Achilles, a Greek mortal hero who used the plant to stop the bleeding in his wounded soldiers.
Sunflower Oil
Helianthus annuus
Its name says it best – this beloved flower follows the sun. Brimming with beneficial Omega 3, 6, and 9 fatty acids, it helps to soothe wounds, protects the skin from the sun, and provides a dewy, golden glow.
Sesame Oil
Sesamum indicum
Filled with Vitamin E and fatty acids, this “liquid gold” helps moisturize and protect the skin and offers a deeply grounding effect—ideal for meditation. Warming, thick, and nourishing for the mind and body, sesame oil is a trusted ally in Ayurveda.
Jojoba Oil
Simmondsia chinensis
Made from the nut of the jojoba plant, jojoba oil is a trusted ally when it comes to skin health. With cleansing, antioxidant properties, it contains Vitamin E and essential minerals to help hydrate and support the skin’s elasticity.
Beeswax
Cera alba
Used in our Everything Salve, this “bee gold” is a powerful moisturizer that adds a protective layer over our skin barrier. Beeswax can help calm irritated skin, and has found its way into European and Asian holistic formulas for centuries.
